Martin Brodeur and some more Legends

Another 70 new NHL autographs have been added to my collection since the last post.  The grand total now stands at 3,187 unique NHL player signatures.

Martin Brodeur and Grant Fuhr
I splurged a little on this Marty Brodeur autograph since I don't imagine I'll ever be able to acquire one on the cheap.  He's a future first ballot Hall of Famer who may go down as the greatest goaltender of all time.
Grant Fuhr is a Hockey Hall of Famer, Vezina winner, William Jennings winner, 6 time All-Star and has his name on the Stanley Cup 5 times.
Kirk McLean and Jean-Sebastien Giguere
Kirk McLean was the Vancouver Canuck's starting goalie for over a decade.  He is a 2 time NHL All-Star and was twice a finalist for the Vezina trophy.  His most notable accomplishment is leading the Canucks to the Stanley Cup finals in 1994.
JS Giguere was one of the league's best netminders for a number of years.  He won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2003 after leading the Ducks all the way to the Cup finals.  He won the ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup, in 2007 with the Ducks.
Chris Beckford-Tseu and Mike Morrison
These two cards are notable because they are becoming harder and harder to find.  Chris Beckford-Tseu saw time in just 1 NHL game for the 2007/08 St. Louis Blues.
Between 2005 and 2007 Mike Morrison played in 29 NHL games.  He dressed for the Oilers, Senators and Coyotes.
Patrick Desrochers and Jonas Frogren
This Patrick Desrochers Bowman CHL Autograph is my first star of this mail post.  Its his only certified autograph and very tough to find.  Desrochers played 11 NHL games between the Phoenix Coyotes and Carolina Hurricanes.
Another rare autograph, Jonas Frogren has very few on the market.  He played 1 NHL season, 41 games, for the 2008/09 Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mark Cullen and Gilbert Perreault
I was finally able to acquire this SoReal KHL Mark Cullen autograph at a reasonable price.  Some sellers want way too much for these cards.  Cullen played 38 NHL games between the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers and Florida Panthers.
Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990, Gilbert Perreault is an NHL legend.  He was a 9 time All-Star, winner of the 1971 Calder Trophy, 1973 Lady Byng Trophy and long time captain of the Buffalo Sabres.  He scored well over 500 career goals in the NHL, one of only 42 people to accomplish the feat.
Mike Bossy and Norm Ullman
Mike Bossy is one of the greatest goal scorers in NHL history.  The Hockey Hall of Famer, 4 time Stanley Cup winner, Calder Trophy winner, Conn Smythe winner and 3 time Lady Byng winner scored 50+ goals in 9 straight seasons.
Hockey Hall of Famer Norm Ullman retired from the NHL with well over 1000 games played and 1000+ points scored.  He lead the NHL in goals scored during the 1964/65 season with 42.
Craig MacTavish and Pat LaFontaine
Craig MacTavish won 4 Stanley Cups, 3 with the Edmonton Oilers and 1 with the 1994 New York Rangers.  He is the last player to play in the NHL without a helmet.  He has since been head coach and general manager of the Oilers.
Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine scored over 1000 points in less than 900 games.  His career was cut short by injuries.  He was a Hart Trophy nominee in 1993, scoring 148 points in a single season.
Brian Leetch and Vic Stasiuk
Brian Leetch was a star as soon as he entered the NHL, winning the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year in 1989.  He was named the league's best defenseman twice and won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1994 as he lead the New York Rangers to their first Stanley Cup in many years.  He was recently inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Vic Stasiuk was one of the more interesting names on the Motown Madness checklist.  He gets his first certified autograph many years after he retired.  The long time Detroit Red Wing and Boston Bruin won 3 Stanley Cups with the Wings; 1952, 1954 and 1955.  He was head coach of the Flyers, Golden Seals and Canucks after retiring as a player.
Tony Twist and Louie DeBrusk
Forward Tony Twist only scored 10 goals in his decade long NHL career.  He did, however, accumulate 1000+ penalty minutes and was known as the one of the league's toughest fighters throughout his career.
Louis DeBrusk was also primarily an enforcer.  He retired in 2004 with 1100+ career penalty minutes in the NHL.
Martin Grenier and Yanick Lehoux
Another hard to find Bowman CHL autograph, Martin Grenier played 18 NHL games between the Phoenix Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks and Philadelphia Flyers.  He's a tough customer who has had a few seasons of 200+ penalty minutes in pro hockey.
Between 2005 and 2007 Yanick Lehoux played 10 games for the Phoenix Coyotes.
Jacob Josefson and Mark Stone
Recently re-signed by the New Jersey Devils, Jacob Josefson has played nearly 100 games for the team.  The Swede was their 2009 first round draft choice.
Mark Stone has played a half a dozen games for the Ottawa Senators. He's set to add to that total this coming season.
Radek Smolenak and Josh Gorges
A rather obscure Heroes & Prospects autograph, Radek Smolenak played 6 games for the 2008/09 Tampa Bay Lightning and 1 game for the 2009/10 Chicago Blackhawks.  Through 7 games he managed 1 assist and 3 fights.
Signed by San Jose in 2002 as an undrafted free agent, Josh Gorges has developed into a great NHL defenceman.  He's played 500+ games in the NHL and is currently an assistant captain in Montreal.
Brett Bulmer and Trevor Lewis
So far Brett Bulmer has played in 9 NHL games, all coming with the 2011/12 Minnesota Wild.
Trevor Lewis has played 200+ games with the LA Kings and helped them claim the 2012 Stanley Cup.
Erik Gustafsson and Jamie Arniel
Since 2011 Erik Gustafsson has played a total of 67 games for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Jamie Arniel played just 1 NHL game.  He recorded no points in his only game with the 2010/11 Boston Bruins.
Derek Boogaard
Derek Boogaard's story is well known throughout the hockey community.  The enforcer died in 2011 at only 28 years of age due to an accidental drug/alcohol overdose.
Brian Gionta and Alex Kovalev
Montreal Canadien captain Brian Gionta once scored 48 goals in a single season for the New Jersey Devils.  He won a Stanley Cup with the team in 2003.
Alex Kovalev won a Stanley Cup as a young player with the 1994 New York Rangers. He's a 3 time NHL All-Star who retired with 1000+ career points.
Dmitri Bykov and Ruslan Fedotenko
This Dmitri Bykov Signature Series autograph is notable for being rather hard to find.  I haven't seen many copies floating around.  Bykov played 1 season, 71 games, in the NHL with the 2002/03 Detroit Red Wings.
Ruslan Fedotenko was a solid contributor to 2 Stanley Cup championship teams, the 2004 Tampa Bay Lightning and the 2009 Pittsburgh Penguins.  He has 22 career playoff goals.
Niklas Sundblad and Todd Bertuzzi
Picked 19th overall by the Flames in 1991, Niklas Sundblad is one of numerous first round busts by Calgary.  He played in only 2 games for the team, both in 1995/96.
Todd Bertuzzi has had a solid and long NHL career but he may be most remembered for the Steve Moore incident of 2004.
Yannick Tremblay and Ville Nieminen
One of the original 1999/00 Atlanta Thrashers, Yannick Tremblay had previously played for the Toronto Maple Leafs.  He last played in the NHL with the 2006/07 Vancouver Canucks.
Ville Nieminen has a few notable accomplishments.  He won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2001, helped the Flames reach the finals in 2004 and won and Olympic silver medal with Finland in 2006.
Eric Belanger and Lubomir Visnovsky
Eric Belanger was recently bought out by the Oilers and is now heading to the KHL.  Between 2000 and 2013 he played well over 800 NHL games between the Kings, Hurricanes, Thrashers, Wild, Capitals, Coyotes and Oilers.
Two time NHL All-Star Lubomir Visnovsky has been a premier NHL defenceman throughout his career.  The Slovakian native is known as one of the best offensive blueliners in the league.
Jay Pandolfo and Jarno Kultanen
Jay Pandolfo captured the Stanley Cup twice as a New Jersey Devil, in 2000 and 2003.
Between 2000 and 2003 Jarno Kultanen played 102 games for the Boston Bruins.
Tomas Vlasak and David Harlock
Tomas Vlasak played only 10 games for the 2000/01 LA Kings, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists.
Between 1994 and 2002 David Harlock played 200+ NHL games.  He played for the Maple Leafs, Capitals, Islanders and Thrashers.
Olli Jokinen and Jonathan Girard
A former NHL All-Star and long time captain of the Florida Panthers, Olli Jokinen has played over 1000 games.  He has silver and bronze Olympic medals from his time with Team Finland but has won little of note in the NHL, only playing 6 career playoff games.
Making his debut in 1998, Jonathan Girard played 153 games for the Boston Bruins.  He was a full time member of team until his career was cut short by a serious car accident in 2003.
Petr Klima and Patrice Brisebois
The Detroit Red Wings organized a complicated plan to smuggle Petr Klima out of Czechoslovakia in 1985 to play for them.  He's most notable for winning a Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers in 1990.
Patrice Brisebois played over 1000 games in the NHL.  He won the Stanley Cup as a Montreal Canadien in 1993.
Tony Amonte and Ulf Dahlen
A 5 time NHL All-Star, Tony Amonte scored 400+ goals through his NHL career.  He scored 30+ goals in a season 8 times.  He also helped Team USA win a silver medal in the 2002 Olympics.
Swedish forward Ulf Dahlen had a lengthy NHL career that saw him play 1000+ career games.
Ryan Thang
Ryan Thang played just 1 NHL game, it came with the 2011/12 Nashville Predators.  His only certified autograph is this /199 The Cup RC.
Bernie Wolfe and Bob Gryp
Between 1975 and 1979 Bernie Wolfe tended net for the Washington Capitals.
Bob Gryp made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins in 1973/74 but played the majority of his 74 game NHL career with the Washington Capitals.
Frank Spring and Corey Spring
Frank Spring played 61 NHL games between the St. Louis Blues, California Seals and Cleveland Barons.  He also played 13 games for the WHA's Indianapolis Racers.
Frank son, Corey Spring dressed in 16 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the late 1990s.
Kevin LaVallee and Dave Reierson
Between 1980 and 1987 Kevin LaValle played in just under 400 NHL games.  He dressed for the Flames, Kings, Blues and Penguins.
Dave Reierson played in just 2 NHL games, both for the 1988/89 Calgary Flames, a team that would claim the Stanley Cup at years end.
Doug Volmar and Doug Roberts
Doug Volmar split his 64 game NHL career between the Detroit Red Wings and LA Kings.  He was also a member of Team USA's 1968 Olympic team and played briefly in the WHA for the San Diego Mariners.
A stick boy for the Red Wings as a kid, David Roberts would grow up to play for the team, making his debut in 1965.  He would see 400+ games of NHL action between the Wings, Seals and Bruins.  He spent a couple of years in the WHA before retiring in 1978.  His son David also played in the NHL.
Ray Cullen and Brian Cullen
Between 1965 and 1971 Ray Cullen played 300+ NHL games while dressing for the Rangers, Red Wings, North Stars and Canucks.  He's notable for being an original Canuck as he was claimed by the franchise in the expansion draft.
Ray's older brother Brian Cullen played 7 NHL seasons during the Original 6 era.  Thanks to Legends of Hockey the index I made featured an image of a player not Brian.  He was nice enough to sign and include this card, which will do just fine for my collection.
Willie Brossart and Paul Guay
Through the 1970s Willie Brossart played 130 NHL games between the Flyers, Leafs and Capitals.
Paul Guay saw 126 games of NHL action between the Flyers, Kings, Bruins and Islanders. He represented Team USA in the 1984 Olympics.

Don Dietrich played 28 career NHL games between the Blackhawks and Devils.  He's notable for writing a book called No Guarantees about his hockey career and personal struggles.

The following autographs don't count towards my grand total because they never played in the NHL.

Chet Pickard
So far Chet Pickard has appeared in the NHL only as a backup netminder.  He was drafted 18th overall by the Nashville Predators in 2008.
Richard Farda and John Danby
One of the first European's to play pro hockey in North America, Czech native Richard Farda spent 3 seasons in the WHA.  He spent a couple seasons playing for the Toronto Toros and one for the Birmingham Bulls.  He scored 19 goals and 54 points in his second year with the Toros, a career high.

Alana Blahoski was on the 1998 gold medal winning team.
